Audi eAWS Technology | Gossett Audi | Memphis, TN

SUVs have never been known for their agile performance over the years. Audi is looking to change that perception by implementing eAWS (electromechanical roll stabilization) in order to provide their large SUVs with sporty road-holding properties and the ability to minimize body roll. Here's how eAWS can improve your driving experience for the better each day.

How does eAWS work?

Normally, a stabilizer would work passively to balance the suspension movements on both sides. Electromechanical roll stabilization is specifically controlled, meaning it can rotate the stabilizer halves in opposite directions which creates enough torque to rival the torque that body roll creates.

The eAWS gets its directions from control units that happen to be a part of the Electronic Chassis Platform. The ECP is capable of calculating the ideal responses for each integrated component within milliseconds of getting information like speed, ride height, driving conditions and more. When paired with the air suspension of an Audi, you get maximum performance out of your SUV.

What powers the eAWS?

In order to work, the eAWS system needs to get its electrical energy from somewhere. That place is a 48-volt onboard electrical system that enables an immediate system response even at low speeds. This system is even impressively able to regenerate energy from suspension impulses on its electric motor. In turn, this energy is stored in the battery until it is needed for use. Even better, the electromechanical system is eco-friendly because it doesn't need any oil circuits and is maintenance free.

How do you benefit?

The system reduces the body's tendency to roll, which you can feel during your drive. Your Audi SUV will have a sportier and more confident handling impression and your comfort will be at an all time high. Your comfort increases because on uneven road surfaces, the body movements are reduced. The vehicle also feels more stable and you feel in control even while cornering at higher speeds.

Only at the wheel of an Audi vehicle will you benefit from the excellent eAWS technology. Experience the benefits with a test drive at Gossett Audi.
