When the iconic Audi Ur-Quattro road and rally car hit the track in 1980, turbocharged four-wheel-drive rally racers hadn't been introduced to Group B racing yet. Due to powertrain regulations, it wasn't until the introduction of this turbo AWD Quattro coupe that the combination was even legal in the Group B game.

The original Group B version boasted 300 horsepower, which contributed to a world championship rally win for the first female driver. As rules evolved, the engine was ramped up to a turbocharged inline-5 pounding the pavement with 350 horsepower. One can imagine how this supercar became the idol of many Group B fans, including Lebanon-born Manuel Leon Minassian who chased after this car for a long time before finally purchasing a 1983 model for himself.
