2022 Audi Q5 vs. 2022 Audi Q7: Which One is Right for You?

The Q5 and Q7 are two of the most popular models in the Audi luxury SUV lineup. But which one is right for your needs? Read on to learn more about both of these outstanding vehicles and their biggest strengths.

Size and space

The Q5 will be your best bet if you're seeking a versatile compact SUV. Its two rows have room for up to five passengers, including plenty of rear legroom. Or, if you lower the split-folding rear seats, you can fit more than 54 cubic feet of cargo in back.

The longer, larger Q7 is a great option if you need a larger family SUV. It comes with three rows that can seat up to seven people. When the second and third rows are folded down, you can take advantage of nearly 70 cubic feet of cargo space.

Powertrain options

The Audi Q5 offers 201-horsepower and 261-horsepower gas engine options, and you can also select a 362-horsepower plug-in hybrid with 23 miles of electric-only range. The Audi Q7 limits its options to two gas powertrains: a 261-horsepower setup and an available six-cylinder engine that delivers 335 horsepower. 

If you need towing power from your SUV, the Q7's six-cylinder engine lets you tow up to 7,700 pounds when properly equipped. The Q5 is limited to a 4,400-pound towing max.

No matter whether you choose the Q5 or the Q7, one thing stays the same: standard quattro® all-wheel drive. This system constantly monitors the road to give you the best possible combination of efficiency and traction.

High-end features

The Q5 and Q7 share many of the same high-end features: LED headlights and taillights, a power tailgate, leather upholstery, and real wood inlays. Both models also come with the 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus display, an MMI® touch display with smartphone integration, and active safety features like Audi pre sense® and side assist.

As the larger and more expensive vehicle, the Q7 does come with a few more luxuries than the Q5. These include standard 19-inch wheels, dual infotainment touch screens, and a larger available Bang & Olufsen® premium sound system.
