Meet the 2018 Audi RS4 Avant, the 450-hp Allroad We Won’t Get Here

With its high ride height and 252 horsepower, the A4 Allroad makes a solid blend of wagon and crossover. Beloved by its fans, those who have tasted the adrenaline of a Rennsport model are no doubt enticed by its overseas cousin, the 2018 Audi RS4 Avant. Differentiated by aggressive styling, and a rear spoiler and diffuser, it just gets better from there.

…Except for the part where Audi doesn’t sell its Avant models stateside anymore. The Allroad is the closest we get. Shame, too, since with a twin-turbo V6 housing 450 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, the RS4 Avant is a wagon on steroids. Thanks to a quick-shifting ZF eight-speed automatic and quattro all-wheel drive, it hits sixty in 4.1 seconds, and can be further tailored with drive-mode adjustable suspension, and dynamic steering, not to mention other goodies like Virtual Cockpit and Audi Connect.

But the RS4 Avant isn’t totally out of reach. New management at Rennsport helped bring us the 2018 RS3, so perhaps a change of heart about wagons is forthcoming. We hope so! If you want to drive a new Audi in this vein, contact our Memphis, TN showroom and ask about the S5 Sportback, RS7, or SQ5.
